Ghost in the Graveyard! depicts an evening of fun playing the namesake game. For those unfamiliar, “ghost-in-the-graveyard” is a game that combines elements of tag and hide-and-seek where one player (the ghost) tries to find and tag the other players without being seen. The work begins with a suspenseful feeling as the players prepare to hide before the ghost is allowed to begin seeking. The piece then builds to a climactic peak when the ghost finds one of the players, prompting the other players to run to the designated base as fast as possible! With speaking parts in nearly every instrument group and a catchy melody for the entire duration, Ghost in the Graveyard! is sure to be a hit in any middle school band room.
